Climate Change
The threat that climate change poses to peace, security and sustainable development led UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to label climate change as “the defining challenge of our age”. The UN’s International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), made up of 2000 of the world’s top climate scientists, has been in agreement that the world is heating up due to man-made greenhouse gas emissions (GHG’s). The most common GHG is carbon dioxide, much of which comes from the burning of fossil fuels.
Climate change is thought to be responsible for increased extreme weather events, hurricanes, droughts, desertification, sea level rise, the decline of polar ice caps and widespread loss of habitat.
Any business today must take responsibility for the amount of carbon dioxide it is responsible for emitting into the atmosphere (its carbon footprint).
London Bio Packaging is fighting climate change in two main ways:
• Supplying low carbon materials/ products
• Supplying products made from renewable carbon not fossil carbon
• Providing low carbon services through carbon offsetting core operations and deliveries
